Summary:
• I believe in protecting our environment
for our children and their children
• ENERGY: Develop clean, affordable, American-made
fuels
• Promote alternative non-polluting energy
such as solar & wind power
• I favor the expansion of wilderness areas
so that animals may have the proper environments
in order to breed
Full Explanation:
We
all share
the responsibility to preserve
our planet. The Bush administration has all but
abandoned the programs designed to save our environment.
America has withdrawn from the Kyoto Treaty, reduced
the emissions standards of industry, expropriated
public lands for private profit, and refused to
require better fuel economy for our vehicles
In all of this, my opponent (Phil English) has
been in lock-step with Washington.
These policies are not only leading to the pollution
of our planet, they are actually placing us at
risk by making us more and more dependent upon
Middle Eastern oil.
We ought
to be doing all we can to develop renewable, non-polluting
sources of energy like wind, solar, tidal, hydrogen,
ethanol, and fusion power. We should adopt the
program of West Germany which requires industry
to reduce packaging and thereby reduce waste. We
need to insist that our automobiles become much
more efficient in the area of gas mileage.
And we
are running out of time to change from our policies
of waste and pollution to those of thrift and
the preservation of our planet. A new attitude
in Congress would go a long way toward saving
our environment.
