Steve Porter is an unaffiliated Independent candidate running in the 3rd Congressional District of Pennsylvania, which includes all or parts of Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Lawrence, and Mercer counties.
Steve Porter's Platform
1. Leave Afghanistan now.
2. Lift the Social Security earnings cap.
3. Restore the Corporate tax contribution to half of what it yielded in 1960 [about 25% of the federal tax revenues -- while today it accounts for about 9%, according to The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities] and restore the federal tax rate of the wealthiest 1% of Americans to half of what it was [which was 91% in 1960 while today it is only 35%; www.taxpolicycenter.org].
4. Rescind “Obamacare” and replace it with the HR 676 health care bill currently in Congress.
5. With the revenue generated by the items above, begin public and private work programs in clean energy, infrastructure, and watershed projects.
6. Fund all federal elections with tax dollars already paid and equally distributed to the candidates on the ballot.
